Political figures and community leaders from the Haitian diaspora held a spontaneous sit-in on Thursday, September 12, in Velmont, Long Island. The protest was in response to the false allegations made by presidential and vice-presidential candidates Donald Trump and JD Vance, respectively, targeting Haitians living in Springfield, Ohio.

These candidates accused Haitians of killing and consuming pets, specifically cats and dogs, belonging to the residents of Springfield.
