Prospects and Risks of Artificial Intelligence in Content Generation

The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) organized a new session of its "Cultural Fridays" on Friday, November 17, 2023, at its Bourdon location. Moderated by Frantz Duval, a panel of specialists and stakeholders in the cultural sector discussed the better use of digital technology in Haiti for content production and monetization. Invited to this panel, engineer Patrick Attié, director of the Higher School of Infotronics in Haiti (ESIH) and voting member of the Agence universitaire de la francophonie (AUF), spoke about the opportunities and threats of using generative artificial intelligence for content production.

"We are experiencing a revolution, even if it doesn't necessarily have an immediate impact on our lives," Patrick Attié said at the beginning of his presentation. "The impact of the industrial revolution was to eliminate, to a large extent, the least qualified jobs. One characteristic of artificial intelligence is that it will eliminate a lot of jobs without replacing them," warned Attié.
