Canadian Coordination Cell in the Dominican Republic: Wilner Cayo Labels It a "Political Maneuver"

The president of the organization 'Standing for Haiti' downplays the announcement made by Canada's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mélanie Joly, regarding the establishment of a joint security coordination cell to be led from Canada to assist the PNH. Speaking on the Panel Magik show on Friday, June 16, he suggested that this move is a "political maneuver" in response to the pressure exerted on the Canadian government to end its inaction in the face of the Haitian crisis.

"After numerous protests, Canada felt compelled to emerge from its indifference and take action in response to the dramatic reality Haiti is facing. However, what Canada has proposed is not a viable solution. If Canada doubts its own ability to ensure its own security on the ground, how can we take its proposal seriously in the current state of affairs in Haiti?" complained Pastor Wilner Cayo, president of the organization Standing for Dignity. He insists on seeking sustainable solutions from Canada.
