Two-day conference-discussions on budget reform in Haiti

To mark the 61st anniversary of its establishment, the General Budget Directorate (DGB), under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), organized two days of conference-debates on June 13th and 14th, focusing on the main theme of "The Challenges of Budget Reform in Commemoration of the 61 Years of the DGB." Virtually all the top figures in the Haitian economic and financial landscape were present at the Marriott Hotel for the first day of this event, which mainly focused on the process of public finance reform.

The two main speakers at the conference were Jean Michel Silin, the Director General of the Budget, and the Minister of Economy and Finance, Michel Patrick Boisvert. They expressed their gratitude to former Senator President Jocelerme Privert for his significant contribution to the public finance reform process for at least two decades.

According to Mr. Silin, the law on budget formulation, which serves as the basis for budget reform, was a revision of the decree of May 16, 2005, for which Senator Privert had proposed a rewrite. It
