Haiti among the seven most food-insecure countries in the world.

In 2022, Haiti was among the countries where the population faced catastrophic levels of acute hunger (phase 5) at some point during the year, according to a global report on food crises published on Wednesday, May 4th, 2023. Haiti shares, for the first time, with Afghanistan, Burkina Faso, Nigeria, South Sudan, and Yemen, the list of countries where people have faced famine and destitution.

The Global Report on Food Crises, published on Wednesday, May 4th, 2023, by the Food Security Information Network (FSIN), informs that 258 million people in 58 countries are suffering from acute hunger. In this report, Haiti is on a special list, the list of seven countries where food insecurity was very severe in 2022.
