Barbecue

Many no matter your ethnicity or nationality have probably enjoyed some form of barbecue, especially during the summer months…putting on your own spin on things. Though you may be surprised to know that the word barbecue derives from the Haitian Taino word barbacoa. It is said that after Columbus landed in the Americas in 1492, the Spaniards apparently found native Haitians roasting meat over a grill consisting of a wooden framework resting on sticks above a fire. They also slept on same type of structure as it protected them from animals.
