We are received at the Hotel de la Place, a four-story building on Rue de l’Eglise, facing Place Toussaint Louverture. With luggage tucked away, it’s time for a beer. At the bar, we notice poet, Christophe Charles, Dany Laferrière’s brother-in-law , with a book by Amélie Nothomb in his hands. He mentions he’s in the city to enjoy himself, a poet and citizen who loves his country.
