Twenty-five people lost their lives on April 11 during a stampede at a gathering at the Citadelle Henri. This tragedy stirred strong reactions in public opinion. Seven employees of the citadel and the mayor of Milot have been placed in police custody. The government, after declaring three days of national mourning, also provided financial support for the victims’ funerals.
