The Public University of the Northwest in Port-de-Paix (UPNOPP) is now without a roof. Since the end of the lease on the premises it occupied on Rue Pie X, the institution has literally been put out on the street, with no concrete solution to accommodate its students as the 2025–2026 academic year approaches. Delays in state subsidies and an increase in the student population have worsened the situation, making it impossible to pay rent on a regular basis. In an emergency context, the rectorate had sought help from local authorities.
