Five Haitian Female Photographers Take Part in Second Vap’Art Edition

In the bustling streets of Port-au-Prince, in Bainet or in the Northwest, light reveals stories few dare to tell. Five young Haitian women have decided to immortalize them through the lens of their cameras. Selected to represent Haiti at the second edition of Vap’Art 2025 in Benin, they embody a new generation of photographers where passion, social commitment, and artistic sensitivity combine to bring the invisible to life.

For some, photography came almost naturally. This is the case of Daphney Frazier, whose artistic drive was born from a deep passion for image and human connection. A dentist by profession, she sees in each snapshot a way to heal the gaze and hold up a mirror to realities often ignored. “Taking part in Vap’Art is about showing other young women that they can dare to step forward, despite obstacles,” she explains, summarizing the strength of her commitment.
