UN Reports Over 2,600 Killed in Haiti’s Violence in Just Five Months

The human rights situation in Haiti has become extremely alarming. On Friday, June 13, 2025, the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Volker Türk, expressed in a press release his concern over an unprecedented rise in violence, insecurity, and impunity.

According to data from the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights, 2,680 people were killed between January and May 2025, including 54 children. More than 950 people were injured and 316 were kidnapped for ransom. Currently, over 1.3 million people have been forced to flee their homes to escape the grip of gangs.
