While UNESCO chose the theme “Every Language Counts” for this 25th edition, AKA celebrated the day under the theme “The Haitian Creole Language: A Tool of Resistance for the Haitian People.” According to AKA President Rosilia François Corneille, this theme was selected to show the world how deeply Haitians are attached to their native language, just as they are to their homeland.
