A Visit to Kenscoff

Le Nouvelliste visited Kenscoff on Wednesday, February 12, 2025. More than three weeks after armed gangs launched attacks on several localities—causing casualties—the commune remains calm, in stark contrast to the narrative of imminent attacks and the idea that the town was on the brink of apocalypse.

A team from Le Nouvelliste traveled to Kenscoff on Wednesday. Perched at over 1,500 meters in altitude, about 30 kilometers from Port-au-Prince, Kenscoff has long been a peaceful retreat, with cooler air and terraced fields stretching as far as the eye can see. Typically, people come here seeking rest and tranquility, but today, the serenity that once characterized this part of the metropolitan region seems deeply shaken.
