In a statement issued on the evening of Tuesday, July 8, 2025, the Presidency described the destruction as “an irreparable loss for Haiti’s tangible and intangible heritage.”
“The CPT extends its heartfelt thoughts to all those for whom the Hotel Oloffson was a landmark, a space for expression, memory, and gathering,” read the presidency’s statement, which called for mobilization to “safeguard our heritage that continues to be weakened by instability, impunity, and neglect.”
