CARICOM Struggles to Save the CPT...

Following the December 16, 2024 meeting, during which various sectors agreed to propose solutions to the crisis affecting the Presidential Transition Council (CPT), which has been embroiled in a corruption scandal, CARICOM’s Eminent Personalities met once again on Thursday, February 6, with signatories of the April 3 Agreement. The Montana Accord boycotted the meeting, and the other sectors have yet to reach a consensus on resolving the crisis plaguing the CPT.

Despite being tasked with addressing the insecurity that has plunged the country into chaos, the Presidential Transition Council has failed to make an impact ten months after taking office. The country continues its descent into uncertainty. Weakened by a corruption scandal, the CPT has been in crisis for several months. The nine sectors that signed the April 3 Agreement, which led to the establishment of the CPT, have not reached a consensus on how to resolve this crisis.
