Will CARICOM Step In to Guide the CPT's Path Forward?

The Monday, December 16 meeting between the CARICOM Eminent Personalities and the sectors that signed the April 3 Agreement, which led to the establishment of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT), provided CARICOM with an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the CPT's situation. Most stakeholders criticized the behavior of the Council members, particularly the three indicted advisers. The Caribbean organization asked them to submit a proposal regarding the future of the CPT.

There is a serious issue of morality within the CPT with the presence of the three presidential advisers indicted in the BNC corruption scandal. The majority of sectors have already expressed their dissatisfaction with their representatives on the Presidential Transitional Council. Some have officially cut ties with the CPT members for months now. The virtual meeting with the Group of Eminent Personalities from CARICOM was simply an opportunity for them to demand their resignation.
