School Reopening: Government Sets New Measures

Ahead of the upcoming school year set to begin on Tuesday, October 1, 2024, the Minister of Justice and Public Security, Carlos Hercule, the Minister of Education and Vocational Training, Augustin Antoine, and senior officials from the Haitian National Police held a press conference on Saturday, September 28, 2024. They discussed measures being taken in preparation for the reopening of schools.

Several public schools, including Lycée Marie Jeanne and Lycée du Cent-cinquantenaire, are still occupied by refugees. In response, Minister of Education Augustin Antoine announced that alternative spaces will be provided by the Ministry to allow students to resume their studies.
