Despite government plans, many public schools are not yet ready to welcome students on October 1. Efforts to relocate displaced persons currently sheltering in school facilities have so far been unsuccessful. Several public schools, including Lycée Marie Jeanne and Lycée du Cent-cinquantenaire, are still occupied by refugees. In response, Minister of Education Augustin Antoine announced that alternative spaces will be provided by the Ministry to allow students to resume their studies.
