Toussaint Louverture Airport: Demolition Halted, Perimeter Security Remains a Concern

The 80 multi-story houses overlooking Toussaint Louverture International Airport are still standing, raising concerns about the security of the airport’s perimeter. This situation was highlighted by the coordinator of the Project for Securing and Demolishing Buildings Adjacent to the Airport Fence, who provided an update to the press.

Although flights have resumed at Toussaint Louverture International Airport, security concerns still linger around the immediate perimeter. Five months after the start of the operation to demolish buildings near the airport, the process has hit significant roadblocks.

"We are still far from the final phase of demolishing the houses within the airport's perimeter to secure the area against potential attacks by armed groups," confirmed Me Wilcain Noël, the coordinator of the demolition project.
