Within 48 Hours, Armed Clashes Claim Lives of Two Gang Leaders

Clashes broke out on the evening of Friday, June 6, 2025, between a coalition made up of members of the 400 Mawozo gang and the Taliban gang—led respectively by Wilson Joseph, alias Lanmò San Jou, and Jeff Larose, alias Gwo lwa—and the Chen Mechan gang, led by Claudy Célestin. These confrontations resulted in the assassination of two leaders from a rival faction under Chen Mechan in less than 48 hours.

At the origin of the conflict: a dispute over... a gate. According to information gathered by the newspaper, the incident occurred at Pon Kade, near the Lakou Bastien area in Santo 25, due to a disagreement over a gate installed by Chen Mechan. The gate had been set up during a time when the two gangs were enemies. Now allies under the criminal coalition Viv Ansanm, the 400 Mawozo gang members believed the barrier was no longer necessary. However, their demand was ignored by the Chen Mechan gang.
