Stop Looking Away as Haiti Burns, Pleads Slavery Memory Foundation

The Foundation for the Memory of Slavery (FME), an institution involved in the transmission of the history of slavery and the struggles for its abolition, has adopted a declaration calling for "solidarity in favor of the Haitian people." In this declaration adopted on April 4 and transmitted to the French president, the French government, parliament, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the FME asserted that in addition to the "historical duty" French authorities have towards Haiti, they also have a "historical responsibility."
