Escaping Gang Violence, Merchants Establish Small Markets Everywhere

The escalation of violence by armed gangs since the escape of detainees from the country's two main prisons has led some merchants to abandon their usual places of business and settle in other areas to defend their livelihoods. A tour conducted by Le Nouvelliste revealed that places like Lamartinière Avenue (Bois Verna), the airport junction, and certain areas in Pétion-Ville are gathering more merchants than usual.
