CNDDR's Assistance Essential for Multinational Security Support Mission

Neglected by the government and disregarded by the Haitian National Police (PNH), the National Commission for Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration (CNDDR) hopes to collaborate with the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti (MMAS). In a document released last week, CNDDR coordinator and former colonel of the Haitian Armed Forces, Edwin Forexil, asserted that cooperation between the Commission and the MMAS is "crucial for the success of the mission's objectives."

While struggling to fulfill its mission since its establishment by presidential decree in 2019, the National Commission for Disarmament, Demobilization, and Reintegration believes it is the only legal institution capable of disarming armed groups in the context of deploying a foreign force in the country.
