CNDDR Voices Complaints of Government Abandonment

Deprived of suitable premises, support staff, accompanying office, vehicles, monthly allowances, budget, among other essentials, the National Commission for Disarmament, Dismantling, and Reintegration (CNDDR) claims to have been abandoned by the government. In its self-assessment after four years of existence, the CNDDR believes it could have fulfilled its role if the authorities had taken it into consideration.

As armed groups increasingly arm themselves and extend their influence daily across the country, the National Commission for Disarmament, Dismantling, and Reintegration, which was supposed to disarm and dismantle them, accuses the government of neglecting its work. In this self-assessment, obtained exclusively by Le Nouvelliste on Friday, February 2, the CNDDR asserted that it, too, is a victim of insecurity resulting from the proliferation of gangs.
