UEH and MAEC Launch International Symposium on Haiti's Contribution to Peoples' Emancipation

The State University of Haiti (UEH) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Worship (MAEC) jointly inaugurated the international symposium on "Haiti's Contribution to Peoples' Emancipation - Global Struggle against Slavery and Colonization" on Tuesday, November 14, 2023. Co-organized by the Institute of African Studies and Research (IERAH) and the UNESCO Chair in History and Heritage of UEH (CUHP - UEH), the symposium's launch ceremony took place at the Montana Hotel, attended by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean Victor Généus; the Rector of UEH, Fritz Deshommes; the Representative of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) in Haiti, Tatiana Villegas; the President of the Pan-American Institute of Geography and History (IPGH), Antonio Campuzano Rosales; members of the diplomatic and consular corps; deans, professors, and students from UEH and other universities in the capital.

The launch of the international symposium "Haiti's Contribution to Peoples' Emancipation" took place in a hybrid format, both online and in-person at the Montana Hotel. During the symposium's kickoff, Professor Watson Denis, coordinator of the organizing committee, emphasized that holding this event in the current context of insecurity is "an act of faith."
