Five Consecutive Years of Negative Economic Growth: Analysis by Thomas Lalime

Economist Thomas Lalime analyzed the monetary policy report of the Central Bank of the Republic of Haiti (BRH) for the third quarter of the fiscal year. Less than a day before the end of the fiscal year on Friday, September 29, 2023, Mr. Lalime appeared on Magik9 radio during the Panel Magik program to provide an assessment of the country's economic situation as presented in the monetary policy report.

Invited to analyze the monetary policy report of the BRH for the third quarter of the fiscal year, Thomas Lalime noted an increase in unemployment rates, especially in the textile manufacturing sector. According to the monetary policy report, this marks the first time since 2002 that the number of employees in the industrial sector has been this low," stated Mr. Lalime.
