Need for an Adequate Facility to House Haiti's Historical Documents: Director General of National Archives Launches 'The BID's Cry'

The "Cultural Friday" event at BID made its grand return on Friday, September 15, 2023. On this occasion, the Inter-American Development Bank (BID) hosted a panel of experts at its Bourdon premises to discuss the theme: "Heritage, Protection, and Enhancement." Invited in his capacity as the Director General of Haiti's National Archives (ANH), Jean Wilfrid Bertrand took the opportunity to sound an alarm, or rather "The BID's Cry," as he emphasized the situation of one of the oldest institutions dedicated to preserving the country's documentary heritage.

While 2023 has been declared the "Year of Heritage" by the government, BID marked the resumption of its "Cultural Friday" by dedicating this first edition to the protection and enhancement of heritage. Participating in the discussions, the Director General of ANH highlighted the challenges of preserving written heritage and archives in Haiti.
