A new development in the saga sparked by the construction of a canal by Haitians on the Massacre River. After announcing the closure of land, sea, and air borders with Haiti, and suspending visa issuance for Haitians, President Luis Abinader has prohibited 9 compatriots from entering his country. These instructions were conveyed by the Dominican head of state to the migration director, Venancio Alcantara Valdez, on Thursday, September 14, 2023. These Haitians are accused of supporting the canal's construction.
