School reopening: announcements and promises from the Ministry of National Education and Vocational Training (MENFP)

The Minister of National Education and Vocational Training, Nesmy Manigat, responded to the invitation from Panel Magik on Tuesday, August 22, 2023. During an interview with Magik9, the head of MENFP discussed various topics, including the reconstruction of schools in the Grand Sud and the preparations for the upcoming school year, which is set to begin on September 11th. Some of the points addressed during the interview included the distribution of the single school textbook, cash distribution, school cafeteria, and relationships with stakeholders involved in the smooth operation of the Haitian education sector, among other things.

"For this year, the government, through the program implemented for the school year, is providing one million free textbooks for students in the 1st and 2nd fundamental years who follow the official curriculum of the MENFP," announced Nesmy Manigat, waving sanctions against schools that deviate from the curriculum established by the ministry.
