Jamaica Summit: How to Mask a Failure

The three days of discussions held in Kingston, Jamaica, from June 11th to 13th, 2023, by Haitian stakeholders on the Haitian crisis did not lead to a resolution to end the crisis as desired by CARICOM. There was no agreement, no consensus, nor a joint statement between the supporters of the December 21st agreement and the political actors and civil society present at the summit.

The three days of inter-Haitian dialogue in Jamaica did not allow Haitian political actors to resolve their disputes and find a Haitian solution to the multifaceted crisis plaguing the country. While the consultations did not achieve the expected results, Prime Minister Ariel Henry believes that the discussions were not in vain.

"These consultations have allowed us to see that on several important subjects, our points of convergence are more numerous than our divergences," stated the head of government during a press conf
