The UN Security Council devoted a meeting on Monday, July 20, to the situation in Haiti, with a view to renewing the Gang Suppression Force (GSF). While several speakers welcomed the progress made in election preparations and the strengthening of security capacities, all emphasized the need to maintain momentum in order to create the conditions for credible elections. The full deployment of the Gang Suppression Force (GSF) and the renewal of its mandate were also presented as priorities.
