2026 World Cup: Brazil–Haiti, an Uneven Matchup on Paper

Brazil, held to a 1–1 draw by Morocco in its opening match, will attempt to revive its World Cup campaign in what appears on paper to be a lopsided matchup against Haiti—but perhaps not so much on the field.

It is a Brazilian team, a permanent fixture at the World Cup, crowned with its five world titles (1958, 1962, 1970, 1994, and 2002) and boasting numerous stars playing for Europe’s biggest clubs, that is preparing to face Haiti, which is only making its second appearance at football’s biggest tournament, 52 years after its first.
