After thrashing Belize 9–0 last November, the Grenadières, under the direction of Pia Sundhage, overcame Suriname 2–0 to secure their second victory in the qualifiers for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, Brazil 2027.
To achieve this, the Grenadières had to work hard against a Suriname side strengthened by players who had previously represented the Netherlands at youth level, such as Lakeesha Eijken, striker for Fortuna Sittard (D1, Netherlands), Sifra Dulder (D2, France), Nicci Barevoets – Hera Unit
