While several neighborhoods in the West and Artibonite departments remain under gang threat, nature has now joined the crisis. Five departments are on yellow alert as the 34th tropical wave of the season is expected to develop into Tropical Storm Melissa. According to a bulletin issued by Haiti’s Hydrometeorological Unit (UHM), the country could find itself on the storm’s projected path, which is likely to strengthen within the next 24 to 48 hours.
