On Monday, September 22, 2025, U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau announced that the U.S. Department of State has sanctioned former senator Antonio Cheramy, known as Don Kato, and former deputy Arnel Bélizaire for their destabilizing role in Haiti’s democratic process. Mr. Landau made this statement at the opening of a tripartite meeting between Kenya, Haiti, and the United States on the MSS.
