Ex-Prime Ministers Caution Against Potential Political Crisis on February 7, 2026

The Forum of Former Prime Ministers of Haiti (FAPM) sounded the alarm on Tuesday, September 9, 2025, by publishing a solemn declaration addressed to the Transitional Presidential Council (CPT). The organization, chaired by Evans Paul, urges the transitional authorities to anticipate “the potential political catastrophe of February 7, 2026,” which threatens to plunge the country into a total institutional void.

Straight away, the Forum of Former Prime Ministers of Haiti recalls that the CPT, in place for 17 months, was established by the decree of May 23, 2024, with the central mission of organizing a constitutional referendum and general elections. Yet, the Forum notes, neither of these two objectives will be achieved before the February 7, 2026 deadline.
