World Cup Qualifiers: Haiti Holds Costa Rica to a 3-3 Draw

The Haitian national football team nearly pulled off a sensation on Tuesday, September 9, against Costa Rica, with a final score of (3-3) at the Estadio Nacional in San José, in the second matchday of the FIFA 2026 World Cup qualifiers.

Yet things started off very badly for the Grenadiers. Following a turnover by Carl Fred Sainté, Kenneth Vargas recovered the ball and went straight toward Josué Duverger’s goal, leaving the Haitian keeper helpless to prevent the first goal of the match.

The Ticos, dominant, put their foot on the ball in an attempt to endanger the Haitian defense. It took three decisive saves (15th, 18th, and 25th minutes) from an impeccable Josué Duverger on his goal line to keep the Ticos from running away with the match
