The American congresswoman of Haitian origin, Sheila Cherfilus McCormick, “in favor of renewing the HOPE/HELP Act,” as is the Black Caucus, highlighted the need to act simultaneously on the economy, security, and governance in Haiti, during an interview with Le Nouvelliste at her office in the U.S. Congress on Tuesday, September 9, 2025.
“There are people who think that we must have security before considering the economy and governance. But these issues must be addressed simultaneously,” she said.
