Carifesta XV: Haitian Artists Put on a Show

Saturday, August 30, had a special flavor at the Caribbean Festival of Arts. Haitian artists took to the stage with two series of performances. At midday, Nanm Vodou A, Joël Akoustik, and Fameuse Maude shone through a varied playlist. In the evening, 21 Nanchon, accompanied by Fla Vodou, delivered a musical choreography centered on the assotor, the mythical drum of Haitian Vodou, a performance that amazed the crowd with its cultural and artistic depth.

At the Carifesta Village in Grand Market, Haitian artists did not miss the opportunity to put Haitian culture in the spotlight. Everything began around 1 p.m., when the group Nanm Vodou A, led by singer Charline Jean-Gilles and maestro Jimmy Kerby Toussaint, stepped on stage for their very first appearance at the Caribbean Festival of Arts. The band opened with their track titled Rele Lwa yo.
