MEF Officially Launches Youth Employment Initiation Program

Since the fall of the Duvalier regime, one of the demands of young Haitians of both sexes has been their integration into the social, political, and economic life of the country. This demand took some time before finding a positive response within the public administration. After the January 12, 2010 earthquake, the Haitian government created the Youth Employment Initiation Program (PIJE). However, political instability, natural disasters, and insecurity prevented the effective implementation of this program. Upon taking office in 2024, Prime Minister Didier Alix Fils-Aimé reactivated the PIJE, entrusted it to the Ministry of Economy and Finance, and included it in the 2024–2025 amended budget before its official launch on Tuesday, August 12, coinciding with International Youth Day.

The Karibe Convention Center hosted the official launch of the Youth Employment Initiation Program (PIJE) by the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) on Tuesday, August 12, 2025, which also marked International Youth Day. Between MEF executives, other public administration officials, business sector representatives, members of the press, and—most notably—the interns, who were the guests of honor at the event, the ceremony hall was packed.

After a few minutes of anticipation, the first speakers took the stage.
