Minister Kathia Verdier Focuses on Issuing IDs to Diaspora Haitians

In an interview with Le Nouvelliste on Tuesday, July 29, Kathia Verdier, Minister for Haitians Living Abroad, shared positive news about improvements made by her ministry to facilitate access for Haitians abroad to essential documentation. According to the minister, efforts are being made to ease administrative processes that prevent members of the diaspora from fully enjoying their citizen rights.

One of the key priorities of this reform focuses on legal documentation, particularly obtaining passports and criminal records, which are indispensable for many compatriots abroad to regularize their status.

“The identity issues of our compatriots abroad cause many difficulties, including the inability to obtain scholarships, jobs, or participate in regularization programs,” explained the minister. To address this situation, measures have been put in place to assist Haitians in the diaspora.
