Doctors, nurses, and other medical personnel in the Nord-Ouest department protested on Wednesday, July 23, in Port-de-Paix against the arrest of Dr. Isaac Anelphonse Archelus, orthopedic surgeon, and anesthetist Nerline Joachim, who were taken into custody on July 21, 2025, in connection with the investigation into the seizure of 1,045 kg of cocaine off the coast of La Tortue Island. The doors of major healthcare institutions, including the Immaculée Conception Hospital of Port-de-Paix, remained closed.
