Les Cayes Airport Expansion Secures $100M from IDB, Confirms Yves Ducarmel François

Steps are underway to expand the Antoine-Simon Airport in Les Cayes, announced Yves Ducarmel François, Director General of the National Airport Authority (AAN), during his appearance on Magik 9’s morning show on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. During this appearance, Mr. François stated that a $100 million envelope from the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) has been approved for this work.

After years of waiting, the internationalization of the Antoine-Simon Airport in Les Cayes seems closer than ever. The Director of the AAN, Yves Ducarmel François, confirmed the existence of a plan to expand the airport’s infrastructure. In this regard, Mr. François specified that, at the request of the Ministry of Public Works, Transport and Communications (MTPTC), the IDB has allocated a $100 million envelope to support the transition toward a 4E-type international airport.
