Sectoral Table Examines Legal and Protective Measures for Gang-Recruited Children

The fourth meeting of the Sectoral Table on Security (TSS), held on Wednesday, July 9, focused on “Children and Armed Gangs,” in a context where more terrorist groups have recruited children into their ranks to serve as soldiers. Around twenty organizations that took part in the meeting put forward nearly a dozen concrete and urgent proposals to address this scourge.

This meeting of the Sectoral Table demonstrated that the issue of children recruited into gangs cannot be addressed solely from a security perspective. It requires a comprehensive response combining prevention, justice, reintegration, and the protection of the rights of Haitian children forced to engage in criminal activities.
