Spanish Ambassador Visits Southern Haiti

The Spanish Ambassador to Haiti, Marco Antonio Peñín Toledano, carried out a field visit to the departments of Nippes and the South from June 3 to 5 to oversee the progress of projects supported by Spanish Cooperation. According to a press release issued by the embassy, the visit provided an opportunity to inaugurate infrastructure works in the water sector and highlight initiatives focused on human rights.

The mission began with a meeting with officials from the Bureau des Droits Humains en Haïti (BDHH), an organization implementing the project “Defense of Human Rights of Women, Children, and Vulnerable Groups” in Port-au-Prince, Les Cayes, Coteaux, and Aquin. Thanks to a €250,000 grant from the Spanish Agency for International Development Cooperation (AECID), the NGO is carrying out a project to protect the rights of women, children, LGBTI individuals, and human rights defenders in several municipalities.
