Historian Georges Michel Labels Draft Constitution a Toxic Offering for Haiti

Dr. Georges Michel, historian and former member of the constituent assembly who contributed to drafting the 1987 Constitution, described the draft constitution proposed by the Steering Committee as “anti-people” and called to “nip this new constitution in the bud.”

“The draft of the new constitution was written by competent individuals,” said historian Georges Michel, not without irony. “The proposed text is full of traps and unacceptable provisions. It’s a potassium cyanide pill coated in chocolate,” he added.
