The Terror of Criminal Groups Seen Through Social Media

Words are not enough to describe and recount the horror of the actions of criminal groups that sweep through, loot, burn, and kill in the Port-au-Prince region. Words are not enough to convey their grip on the national territory, to the dismay of state authorities. The newspaper collected fragments of videos, overflowing with cruelty, bearing witness to the boundless evil perpetrated by the criminals. These videos, filmed in most cases by the perpetrators themselves, portray a level of barbarity that no report can fully capture — a barbarity that is descending upon Haiti.

In Mirebalais, not far from a gas station, a young man paces back and forth with a bag of ammunition in his hands. Nearby, two human skulls are displayed. In the video, a voice claims they are the heads of two members of community watch brigades, executed by his criminal group. “They were hiding in armored vehicles to attack us. Yeah! Yeah! Look at them now. We, the Talibans (members of the Canaan criminal group), don’t spread rumors,” he exclaims. Severed arms and legs are also visible in the video. It was filmed
