Haiti Strengthens Customs Control at the Border with the Dominican Republic

In a context of tightening control measures on trade between Haiti and the Dominican Republic, the General Directorate of the General Customs Administration (AGD) issued a notice on Wednesday imposing new restrictions on imports transiting through the Haitian-Dominican land border. This decision, taken on the instruction of the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), aims to better regulate the flow of goods and limit illegal entries into Haitian territory.

According to Circular No. 001, referenced DAJ/BM/AGD/03-25/00479 from the Ministry of Economy and Finance, published on March 25, 2025, customs offices located at the border between Haiti and the Dominican Republic are no longer authorized to receive goods coming from abroad via Dominican territory, until further notice.
