Médecins Sans Frontières Raises Alarm Over Cholera Outbreak in Haiti

Benoît Vasseur, head of mission for Médecins Sans Frontières in Haiti, spoke on March 13, 2025, on Radio Magik 9 to warn about the resurgence of the epidemic in the country. In light of this rise, he fears the worst.

Since the beginning of January, Médecins Sans Frontières has observed an increase in cholera cases, according to Vasseur. "The majority of patients come from Cité Soleil. We are receiving five patients per day. In the past ten days, we have recorded around 70 cases, and given the situation— the increase in the number of displaced persons, the numerous access difficulties we face, as well as those encountered by our partners— we fear a resurgence and a peak of the epidemic."
