The mayor of Port-au-Prince, Youri Chevry, has painted a bleak picture of the security situation in the Haitian capital. Speaking on Magik9 on Thursday, March 6, 2025, he admitted that the municipal authorities control only 12 out of the city’s 38 square kilometers.
"We have control over part of Champ de Mars. The Magloire Ambroise area and Avenue Christophe are in a state of war. Right now, clashes are taking place between gangs and the police," he stated during the Panel Magik program.
